DINING ROOM
SETTING THE DINING ROOM | FALL 2019
Drawings: pencil
Model: foam, basswood, vellum, brown board,
After the woven chair, other aspects of the dining room were explored. The dining room design shown here envisions a private and public space for dining and eating. When designing the space, body movement, postures and aperture were explored. The dining area is the public space where the family mingle and have meals together. Large windows in the south and east walls of the room bring abundant light into the space.
Divided by a translucent partition, the breakfast counter acts as more of a private space. The kitchen counter and dining room set were all designed as part of a holistic design concept. To establish a connection between the two spaces, silhouettes from the counter can be seen from the dining space through the partition.
